Leading cyber security in Australia
The Canberra Cyber Hub which launched in 2022, is a not-for-profit funded by the ACT Government.
Their mission is to revolutionise Canberra’s cyber security landscape by empowering cyber businesses to thrive, equipping students and professionals with cutting-edge skills, and driving future innovations through research and development.
Led by directors Dr. Michael Frater, Neil Hart, Karen Schilling, and the COO, Dr Vicki Gardiner, their passionate team is committed to advancing the cyber security ecosystem. Through strategic partnerships, the Canberra Cyber Hub connects those looking to enter the cyber industry, local SMEs, research institutions and the government.

Available opportunities
Engagement Manager
As the Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving collaboration and growth across Canberra’s cyber, quantum, and space sectors.
You’ll use your relationship-focused approach to grow the ecosystem, connecting people, leading initiatives, and delivering impactful events that position the Canberra Cyber Hub as the partner of choice in the tech sector.
- $89,286 – $102,679 + 12% Superannuation
- Permanent, full time position with flexible working arrangements available
- Flexibility required as out of hours business work and travel may be required to deliver events from time to time
- Free annual flu shots
- Professional Development allowance of $2k (to attend conferences, undertake relevant training/development)
- 10 working day paid shut down over the Christmas period not taken out of annual leave (this includes the public holidays)
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the ecosystem to drive engagement in Canberra Cyber Hub programs
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities to supporting program growth and retention
- Promote the Canberra Cyber Hub as a preferred partner for organisations in the cyber, quantum, and space sectors
- Lead the delivery of programs and events that support sector growth and collaboration
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to highlight the Hub’s contribution to industry development
- Support governance activities, including meetings and forums, with clear documentation and follow-up on key actions
The ideal person
You will have demonstrated experience in business development and/or sponsorships with a strong focus on building authentic, long-term relationships.
Skills & capabilities
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels
- An ability to think outside the box to achieve objectives with a mind to constructively reflect on approaches
- Clear and effective communicator, capable of translating complex ideas for varied audiences
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proven experience in business development, partnerships, or sponsorships
Content Creator
As the Content Creator at the Canberra Cyber Hub, you will lead the creation of engaging content that showcases local innovation, research, and career opportunities in advanced technology.
With a mix of writing, design support, and data-driven strategy, you’ll help grow awareness, engagement, and impact across the ecosystem.

- $75k – $85k + 12% Superannuation pro-rated 0.5 FTE

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a content strategy that positions Canberra as a national leader in cyber, quantum and space innovation
- Create compelling stories and content highlighting local advanced technology businesses, innovative research, and career opportunities
- Manage and grow digital channels to engage the advanced technology community, converting followers into active participants
- Support brand awareness through design and graphic content that promotes Hub activities and events
- Use data and analytics to measure communication impact, driving increased event participation and ecosystem growth
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including technical professionals, to ensure content aligns with audience needs and strategic objectives
The ideal person
You will have 2+ years of demonstrated experience as a content creator, partnered with a passion for developing the cyber, quantum and space sectors within the ACT and surrounding regions.
Skills & capabilities
- An interest in technology related sectors and their relevance to regional development and job creation would be an advantage
- Demonstrated understanding of content marketing principles, SEO best practices and social media trends
- Experience creating content for diverse audiences in appropriate multiple formats (written, visual, video)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders, including technical professionals
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- An ability to think outside the box to achieve objectives with a mind to constructively reflect on approaches

Recruitment process
Applications for will be reviewed by Abbie Azzilla, Senior Consultant at HorizonOne.
Following the review of your application, shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with HorizonOne. A reference check will also be completed at this stage.
The second round of interviews will be with Canberra Cyber Hub’s Chief Operating Officer and representatives from the Advanced technologies ecosystems.
A second reference check will take place prior to an offer being made.
